Lu wins a LA area EMMY in the Light News Category for “Homeless Headshots”

Homeless Headshots is a news story about seeing the homeless through a different lens. Lu introduces us to Trevor Neilson who organized a day to recognize previously homeless men and women.  An organization called www.stepuponsecond.org was also highlighted.

Lu also won an Emmy for her involvement as a reporter in the Medical News Story-Multi-Part Report Category.  Neurodegenerative Diseases: ALS, Alzheimers (KTLA News at 10p).

KTLA5 WINS FOUR Los Angeles Area EMMY AWARDS – INCLUDING BEST MORNING NEWS

STATION ALSO WINS BEST LIGHT NEWS, BEST MEDICAL NEWS

AND BEST LOCAL COLOR

LOS ANGELES – June 25, 2016 – KTLA5, Tribune Broadcasting’s Los Angeles affiliate, was the recipient of four Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards by the Television Academy. The annual Emmy® Awards honor outstanding achievement in the television industry.

Additionally, KTLA legend Stephanie Edwards has named as the 2015-2016 Los Angeles Area Governors Award recipient. Edwards was awarded this honor for outstanding achievement in television over a period of years. The Los Angeles Governors Award is the most esteemed local accolade given by the Los Angeles Area Governors Award Committee and the Television Academy.

“I’m proud of all the work we do serving the Southern California community and pleased that the Television Academy recognizes our work. I also want to thank the Academy for honoring Stephanie with this year’s Governor’s Award,” said Don Corsini, President/GM, KTLA.

Said Jason Ball, VP/News, KTLA, “We are honored that the Academy continues to recognize the KTLA 5 Morning News and our efforts to bring attention to issues like homelessness, ALS, and Alzheimer’s Disease. I am especially excited that we were able to honor our late colleague Stan Chambers with an Emmy statue.”
