The Conscientious Table at Crossroads

mobyThe dining room of L.A.’s premiere vegan restaurant, Crossroads, buzzed with energy as expert panelists, celebrities, and members of the community came out for The Conscientious Table: Rethinking Our Food System. The panel, held on September 29, 2014 moderated by Emmy-winning journalist and KTLA news anchor Lu Parker, discussed the issues with our current food system and the best way forward. Seated on the panel were Suzy Amis Cameron, educational and environmental activist and co-founder of MUSE School; Dean Ornish, M.D., founder and president of the Preventative Medicine Research Institute and author of The Spectrum; Timothy Pachirat, author of Every Twelve Seconds; and Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary. Following the discussion, attendees enjoyed a gourmet 4-course vegan dinner prepared by chef Tal Ronnen. The lavish menu included dishes like kale Caesar salad, scaloppini Marsala, and pumpkin mousse. Among those enjoying the meal were special guests Leona Lewis, Emily Deschanel, Kevin Nealon, and Moby. Suzy Amis Cameron best summed up the vision of the evening when she concluded, “Whether you’re going plant-based for health, or for the environment, or for the animals, it’s a win-win for all three.”
